The County Sheriff is More Than A Law Enforcement Officer
The role of the Kitsap County Sheriff goes beyond policing. The Sheriff must be able to:
Manage a $61,000,000 budget, the County's largest!
Supervise a staff of over 260 personnel.
Provide resources & maintenance to multiple buildings.
Work with multiple law-enforcement agencies, elected officials & community organizations.
Being Sheriff isn’t just about law enforcement — it’s about leadership.
It centers on budget management, personnel management, resource management, and community connectivity.
The Sheriff must manage a department, oversee resources & uphold the law in accordance with the U.S. Constitution & Washington State Constitution. These responsibilities demand real management experience.
Without it, the demands of leadership can overwhelm even a skilled officer.
Rick Kuss has both the law-enforcement background & leadership experience Kitsap County needs!
